Cefotrix

Indication:

Cefotrix is indicated for the treatment of the following infections: LOWER RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTIONS, SURGICAL PROPHYLAXIS, INTRA-ABDOMINAL INFECTIONS, ACUTE BACTERIAL OTITIS MEDIA, SKIN AND SKIN STRUCTURE INFECTIONS, URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS, UNCOMPLICATED GONORRHEA, PELVIC INFLAMMATORY DISEASE, BACTERIAL SEPTICEMIA, MENINGITIS, BONE AND JOINT INFECTIONS.

 

How it works:

Inhibition of Bacterial cell wall Synthesis (By binding at the PBPs beta-lactam antibiotics prevent the formation of cross-linkage of cell wall then The cell wall is disrupted completely and the cell lyses).

 

How to use:

antibiotic for intravenous or intramuscular administration (Amount of Diluent to be Added: -Intramuscular Administration:
0.5 gm (1.0-1.8 ml)
1 gm (2.1-3.6 ml)

– Intravenous Administration (should be administered intravenously by infusion over a period of 30 minutes) or may be used intravenous directly So it must Reconstitute vials with an appropriate IV diluent:

0.5 gm (4.8 ml)

1 gm (9.6 ml)

Cefatriaxone (3rd generation Cefalosporins)         ceftriaxone contains approximately 83 mg (3.6 mEq) of sodium per gram.  to treat or prevent infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria 1   gm (I.M & I.V )
